Ogawa School of Japanese Traditional Dance is the oldest Japanese traditional dance school of Kamigatamai, founded by 小川理右衛門/Ogawa Riemon in the period during 安永/An-ei to 天明/Tenmei ofthe Edo era, in 1770s.
Ogawa Riemon was the choreographer of Kamigata Kabuki actor, 3rd Nakamura Utaemon.
After Teru Ogawa inherited the school as the headmistress, great grandmother of the 3rd Teru Ogawa Shizuka Ogawa took charge of it to let her grandchild Chiyo Ogawa inherit as the headmistress.

However, Chiyo Ogawa was delicate in health, so Chiyo’s daughter Tomiko inherited the headmistress and became the 3rd Teru Ogawa.
The 3rd Teru Ogawa nominated the 4th Teru Ogawa.
小川流/Ogawaryu, the Ogawa School of Japanese Traditional Dance of Kamigatamai is lead by the 4th Teru Ogawa, engage in various dance and cultural performances and activities in Japan and overseas.
